Man!!  This first group of participants from the states was stellar!  I immediately connected and bonded with the brothers and sisters here.  I’m not one with introductions, and it usually takes a small while to develop a meaningful relationship with people, but the tone was set with this group.  I straight up told them I bring the funk and fury!!!  It was clear that they brought something too… We immediately united as the F-team -a better variation of the classic A-team.  Let me introduce the cast:
I was Fury, Hieu was Funk, Molly was Flake, Ryan was Flash, and Andrew was Flame or Fire (he had a double portion of blessings).  We set out to see the Lord’s work completed in our lives and in the lives of the Haitian community we were serving.  Praises, that He went before us and began an initial work that we were able to join in on!!
A specific goal and purpose of our ministry down here is discipling.  We disciple the local pastors and churches in the Lord, and we disciple and lead the volunteer groups that come down here to serve Haiti.  It’s all about discipleship.  Isn’t that exactly what Jesus did?
One evening, the F-team wanted the men of the community to meet together as leaders with us.  Without any prompting or directing, the men gathered together to share a message and encourage to us and each other in light of the change God was bringing to their community.  I had not seen such afirmation and reassurance in the Lord here yet.  God began to raise the bar.
The next night our brother, appropriately named Fire/Flame, was asked to bring the Word to church Thursday night.  The gospel was laid down in beautiful clarity!!  I love it.  The Holy Spirit is symbolized as fire in the Bible and our brother Flame brought it in this place.  That fire brought warmth to the cold hearts in the room and light to those living in darkness.  It was amazing ya’ll.  Believe it!
I witnessed seed being sown and falling on good soil that night.  I told our brother on the team that in light (haha) of setting the gospel ablaze in the community that I had to change my name and role on the F-team.  No longer did I need to be Fury, but Fan!!!  We had brought a furious charge of ministry and now that the fire for change had been started, I only need to fan the flame of the Holy Spirit.  Let the work the Lord started continue, and let us be vessels and instruments in that continuation!!!!
Booooooooooooooooom!!!!!
